Ragnarok Online: World Journey is the first open-world game in Gravity's Ragnarok series. In English it's published as Ragnarok: The New World. Gravity Game Vision, Gravity's Hong Kong subsidiary, develops and publishes it. It's free to play, with in-game purchases, on Android, iOS and Windows PC. One account syncs across phone, tablet and PC, so you can switch devices whenever you like.
The game launched in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau on January 15, 2026. The Southeast Asia version followed on July 16, 2026, with Steam joining in late July. English-speaking players use the SEA servers, so expect higher ping from Europe or the Americas. This guide covers your first class, the Job Freedom system, gear, money and the daily habits that keep you moving.
Your first-week priorities
- Finish the Izlude tutorial and redeem active codes. Codes usually give Bound Zeny and premium currency, which help a lot early.
- Follow the main story to around level 30. It unlocks core systems like board quests and guilds.
- Stick with one class until your second job advancement. Don't switch on a whim.
- Put your early refine budget into your weapon.
- Join an active guild before you reach MVP and dungeon content.
- Check the market before you sell any card or rare drop.
Choosing your first class
You get eight classes from launch. Seven are classic RO jobs. The eighth is the Druid, which is new to mobile Ragnarok. It switches freely between three forms: Werewolf, Wereraptor and Human Arcanist. Community guides agree on one thing: the Druid is fun, but its three-form kit is a lot to learn on day one.
| Class | Main strength | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Swordsman | Tough, forgiving, low gear needs | Your first character, solo play, tanking |
| Mage | Fast area damage, quick leveling | Players who can keep their distance |
| Archer | Safe ranged damage | Solo farming |
| Acolyte | Healing and support | Players who like parties |
| Thief | Critical hits and burst | PvP later, once you have gear |
| Gunslinger | High burst damage | MVP fights and quick clears |
| Merchant | Trading-focused | Players who care about the economy |
| Druid | Three forms in one class | Experienced MMO players |
If you're unsure, start with Swordsman for safety or Mage for speed. Tier lists shift with every balance patch, so pick a playstyle you enjoy rather than the current top spot.
Job Freedom: what changes when you switch
The game's headline feature is Job Freedom: one character can learn every class. The Steam page promises free stat and skill resets with no limit, so a bad build is never permanent.
Switching isn't a full reset, though. Community guides describe it like this:
- Carries over: your base level, quest progress, inventory, storage, Zeny and premium currency. Your old gear isn't lost; it waits in your bag or storage.
- Starts over: the new class's job level, skills and stat allocation. Advanced job progress is tracked per class.
- Switching back keeps the job level you'd already earned on that class.
The real cost is gear. Weapons and many card bonuses only suit certain classes, so a new job often means new weapons, cards and refines. A good rule: switch when you have a clear reason, such as your guild needing a healer or a planned move into PvP. Don't switch just because a tier list changed.
Gear, refining and cards
Refining is much gentler than in the original RO. A failed refine doesn't break your item or lower its level, and you can push gear to +15. Costs climb steeply at higher levels, though.
- Weapon first. A well-refined weapon usually adds more power than spreading upgrades across your armor. Beginner guides suggest using early Bound Zeny to bring your weapon to around +4 or +5.
- Then even out. Once your weapon is solid, raise the rest of your slots together instead of pushing one armor piece very high.
- Cards matter. Monster cards return from the classic game and slot into gear for extra effects. Check whether a card helps your current class before you use it, since many bonuses are class-specific.

Zeny, trading and the auction house
Learn your currencies early so you don't spend the wrong one:
| Currency | How you get it | What it's for |
|---|---|---|
| Zeny | Trading, selling drops | Player stalls and the auction house |
| Bound Zeny | Quests, events, codes | NPC shops and refining only |
| Premium currency | Purchases, some rewards | Boosters, cosmetics and shop items |
Trading between players is free. You can open a street stall, as in the classic game, or list items at auction and let buyers bid. Materials often sell for far more at player stalls in Prontera than at NPC shops. Spend Bound Zeny first on refines and shop items, and save tradeable Zeny for gear from other players. If you spend premium currency early, experience boosters usually do more for a new character than cosmetics.
Leveling, offline hunting and daily habits
Progress follows a rough path. The main story carries you through the first 30 levels. Your second job advancement is the next big goal. MVP hunting, dungeons and PvP open up around level 60.
The game helps when you can't play:
- Offline hunting. Your character keeps gathering resources while you're logged out. Collect them every time you log in.
- Resource retrieval. If you miss daily content, you can get back part of its rewards for free.
A simple daily routine:
- Claim offline rewards and event login gifts.
- Clear your daily quests and board quests.
- Run a dungeon or MVP with your guild once you reach the right level.
- Check stalls and the auction house for underpriced gear.
MVPs, mounts and guild content
MVPs are Ragnarok's big world bosses, and they matter more here than ever. Beat an MVP and you can earn it as an exclusive mount. Some MVPs also drop event rewards; the SEA launch event, for example, gave a classic Angel Poring Headband for defeating designated MVPs.
You won't beat most MVPs alone. Parties need a tank, damage dealers and a healer, so class choice matters here. Guilds unlock group content such as sieges and guild rankings. Look for a recruiting guild on the Prontera board or in regional chat.
Mistakes to avoid
- Switching jobs before your main story is done. You'll split your progress and your gear budget.
- Picking the Druid first without MMO experience. Learn the basics on a simpler class, then switch.
- Spreading refines thin. Weapon first, then even out the rest.
- Spending tradeable Zeny where Bound Zeny works. Save real Zeny for player trades.
- Selling rare drops or cards without checking prices. Look at stalls and the auction house first.
- Forgetting offline rewards. Claim them every day; they add up.
What to do next
Once your class reaches its second job and your weapon is well refined, start MVP runs and guild content. Read our Ragnarok Online: World Journey news coverage for server and update plans, and our PC setup article to get the Steam version running smoothly.
