Ragnarok Online: World Journey, sold in English as Ragnarok: The New World, is getting its first big tournament. As of October 17, 2026, Gravity is promoting the Legend Cup, which its event page calls the company's first official dual-format annual championship. Competition starts in November 2026. It covers the Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong and Macau servers. The offline grand final is set for March 2027.
The Legend Cup: prize pool and regions
- Base prize pool: US$1.01 million.
- Bonus pool: no upper limit. It grows through a Tournament Pass and a side event called Destiny Imprint.
- Regions: Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong and Macau.
- Start: November 2026. No exact day has been published yet.
- Grand final: an offline global final in March 2027.
Destiny Imprint is a bonus event. The tournament page says it does not count as official registration. You still need to sign up through the in-game registration and meet the eligibility rules.
Two formats: guilds and squads
The cup runs two separate competitions:
- Odin's Valhalla (Guild Battle): server league, then cross-server league, regional top 64, regional knockouts, global top 8 and global finals. The prize is the title of strongest guild.
- Valkyrie's Trial (Squad Arena): global warm-up, global ranked matches, global top 96, knockout stages and global finals. This is the smaller-team format.
Destiny Imprint adds extra cash for Valkyrie's Trial placings. The champion gets an extra US$5,000, the runner-up US$2,000, top 4 US$1,000 and top 8 US$600. The full schedule and rules are on Gravity's official Legend Cup page.
Still no date for North America or Europe
The tournament doesn't change the biggest problem for Western players. There are still no servers in North America or Europe. In its second-quarter results on August 7, 2026, Gravity said only that the game is preparing a global launch that excludes "certain regions." It gave no quarter, date or country list.
Until then, the Steam version connects to the Southeast Asian servers, so ping is high from Europe and the Americas. The Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau servers are separate and use their own characters.
Where the game stands
- Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau: launched January 15, 2026, and reached number one on the Apple App Store there.
- Southeast Asia (except Vietnam): launched on PC and mobile on July 16, 2026.
- Steam: released July 26, 2026, with English, Indonesian, Thai and Simplified Chinese, all with full audio. Gravity posted a Steam launch FAQ on August 17.
- Steam reviews: "Mostly Negative," with 379 positive out of 1,160 reviews. Common complaints are the missing Western servers, heavy automation and monetization.
Money is a mixed picture too. Gravity's filing says the game's revenue in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau fell in the second quarter after its January launch.
What's next
- November 2026: the Legend Cup begins. Watch the in-game notices for registration.
- March 2027: the offline global grand final.
- Global launch: still no date. Gravity says it will share server launch plans through Steam announcements and in-game notices.
